As Sophia, a certified Sogetsu Ikebana Instructor (Teacher’s Diploma 3rd Grade), I guide a select community in discovering contemporary Ikebana as a living art — a practice of mindfulness, beauty, and personal expression.Currently advancing toward my 2nd Grade certification under the direct mentorship of Master Josephine Tan, I bridge the depth of Tokyo’s Sogetsu headquarters with the vibrant life of our local community. Here, tradition is not a boundary, but a springboard for creativity. In my intimate studio sessions, we go beyond arranging flowers. We cultivate presence, patience, and a refined aesthetic sensibility—turning each lesson into a sanctuary from the everyday, and a step toward mastering the art of graceful living.

The Sogetsu School, founded by Teshigahara Sofu in 1927, stands at the forefront of contemporary Japanese ikebana.
Breaking free from classical conventions, Sogetsu champions a revolutionary principle: that anyone can arrange flowers, anywhere, at any time.Moving beyond mere floral beauty, the school focuses on the expressive interplay of line, space, and emotion. In Sogetsu, every material — whether a humble blade of grass or an unexpected industrial element—holds artistic potential. There are no fixed rules, only the authentic expression of the creator's vision in the here and now.
A 90-Minute Journey into Living Design.Experience the creativity and calm of Ikebana in an intimate introductory workshop. Under expert guidance, connect with nature’s textures and forms as you arrange your very first Sogetsu-inspired piece.- Includes all fresh materials and tools provided.- No need to bring anything, just bring yourself.
